FAQs

Photo Processing

The photos that you order are printed on heavy duty archival Kodak Gold Bond paper. They are then mounted on Gatorfoam (trademark) a very hard, durable mounting board. The photo is then sprayed with a special sealing protective shield guarding against UV rays and spills. All of my lab work, printing and mounting is done locally by Bay Photo Lab here in Santa Cruz Ca.

I personally will sign each photo, inspecting for any flaws. Each photo comes with mounting hardware installed, ready to hang on the wall of your choice. I do not have a staff or a phone tree that asks a million questions and then puts you on hold for an hour, you will be dealing with me directly. The photos can be hand delivered within Santa Cruz County, otherwise Bay Photo will pack the artwork securely and drop ship it directly to you. I can also print photos on stretched canvas and aluminum.

Framing And Mounting

My photographs can be printed on a variety of different mediums. The most common is a luster finish. Luster is a matte finish with a pebbled feel to it that is the most popular. A gloss finish will fingerprint very easily and detracts from the image.

I also offer Stretched Canvas. The photo is transferred onto a stretched canvas mounted on a wooden frame. This gives the photo the quality of a painting. A textured can also be applied to add a little more effect.  The finished photo comes with mounting hardware ready to hang and a protective anti UV spray.

Next is Gatorfoam, a very hard, durable mounting board. Its very thin (3/16 inch) but very strong. It too, is sprayed and comes ready to hang. This is the most popular mount for those on a budget.

Museum Mount is the premier showcase for your photograph. This mount consists of a double, acid free matte, non-reflective glass, real premium wood frame and the back of the photograph sealed with felt buttons applied to the corners to protect your wall.

Lastly is Aluminum. This is for special order prints. The image is etched onto a sheet of aluminum for a sheen and shimmer you have to see to believe.

All my photos are printed locally here in Santa Cruz by Bay Photo Lab, who I have used for the last 25 years. They are pros and I have NEVER had a problem with them.  To better understand the different ways to present your photograph, I suggest you visit their website to better understand your options.
