The Mission San Juan Bautista, named after St. John the Baptist,is the largest os all the 21 Missions in California. The Misson was founded on June 24, 1797 in the San Benito Valley, between Salinas and Hollister. The Mission has the largest Basilica (three aisles) of all the other Missions.If you've never been here, you're in for a treat! The Town of San Juan Bautista grew around the Mission had a large part of it has been preserved for the last 200 years. One can really get a glimpse of what life was like in Alta California.
