I was driving near my house one day and I saw two emus frolicking in a meadow. Now this is something you don't see everyday, so I stopped the car and got out my camera. Since I was shooting with a wide angle lens (11mm to 16 mm) I forgot how close I was to these birds until one of them reach out and clipped me upside the head! The emu is the second largest bird in the world. The largest being the ostrich. The emu stands about 6 to7 feet tall and can weigh up to 275 lbs. They are very fast, and very strong and they can rip a steel fence with their three toed feet. I learned my lesson the hard way, I now have great respect for these birds and will keep my distance.
